After Minnesota United clinched a first-ever Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs berth and LAFC captured a first Supporters' Shield title on a special Wednesday, the Western Conference foes square off Sunday at Allianz Field with the Loons looking to fend off the LA Galaxy and finish second in the West.

The Loons (15-10-7) extended an unbeaten streak to three games, clinched a postseason berth and eliminated Sporting Kansas City all after a 2-1 midweek victory at Allianz Field. Ozzie Alonso leveled in the 70th minute after Botond Barath put SKC in front after seven minutes. Hassani Dotson completed the stunning comeback with the 90th-minute winner.

LAFC (20-4-8) put the finishing touches on their quest for the Supporters' Shield, defeating the Houston Dynamo, 3-1, at Banc of California Stadium. The party started with Carlos Vela's penalty kick in the 23rd minute, his league-leading 30th goal of the season. An own goal by Tyler Miller leveled five minutes later, but Diego Rossi and Eduard Atuesta scored 12 minutes apart to cap the historic victory.

Mason Toye struck for a first-half brace to lift the Loons to a 2-0 win at Banc of California Stadium, LAFC's lone home loss of the season Sept. 1.
